  • Function: A wedge is used to grip and lock the prestressing strand inside the anchorage system.
  • Design: It is a three-piece conical steel component with serrated inner surfaces that match the strand ribs.
  • Working Principle: When the strand is tensioned and pulled through the barrel (anchorage), the wedge slides into its tapered seat and grips the strand firmly by radial compression.
  • Features:
  • Made from hardened alloy steel for strength and wear resistance.
  • Provides self-locking action under load.
  • Ensures no strand slippage during stressing and after release.

  • Function: The barrel is the housing that holds the wedge and transfers the prestressing force to mold and keep stabil the tensioning system.
  • Design: Usually a forged or machined cylindrical steel block with a tapered conical hole to receive the wedge.
  • Working Principle: The wedge sits inside the barrel; as tension is applied, the wedge grips the strand and the force is transferred from strand → wedge → barrel → Mold Surface

Galvanized corrugated ducts are protective metal sheaths, manufactured from galvanized steel sheets with a corrugated profile, used in post-tensioning and similar structural applications to create a durable channel for housing prestressing strands. The standard lengths of Amsterdam PT galvanized corrugated ducts are 5.70 or 6.00 meters, and they are connected to each other using galvanized corrugated duct connectors, which are additionally supplied by Amsterdam PT. During the connection process, alloy tapes resistant to external environmental effects must be used, as their application is essential to provide the correct conditions for proper installation.
